This morning we got dressed in our Sunday best to head to Church. Our closest congregation of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (or closest to a train station at least) was at Shibuya, a few suburbs south of Shinjuku. When we got off the train my bearings were totally wrong so we walked in the wrong direction a few times before finding it. Like in the Sydney CBD (opposite Hyde Park), the chapel here is in a high rise building, taking up five levels including the basement.
It was wonderful to meet the local families, including one US family (the father is in the US Military but when he spoke Japanese it sounded perfect to me) and several who had visited Australia. In some classes we had friendly locals happily sit next to us and translate proceedings for us, excited to be practicing their English.
We found most Japanese people we met who spoke a little English would react very excitedly when they learnt we were from Australia and they all seemed to know "Sydney".
After Church we headed back to Shibuya station and saw this bus and busy intersection . . .

Now we caught the train to the next station to the north, Harajuku, to visit the nearby Meiji Jingu temple, circled in blue:
We're going to visit Meiji Jingu . . . . by passing through this first gigantic Torii gate and then about a twenty minute walk through a beautiful park
Soon we passed through a second giant Torii gate
When we arrived at Meiji Jingu, we helped some other visitors take a photo so they returned the favor by taking the above photo for us.
We were thrilled to see a Shinto wedding taking place . . . .
